Cargill trades, markets, stores, transports and processes grain and oilseeds in all of Europe.
The Cargill trading offices in Salzgitter and Riesa trade oilseeds and grain in Europe.
Apart from our strong market position in the agricultural sector which also includes exports to third party countries, this branch incorporates rapeseed and sunflower seed trading on our two oil mills (Riesa and Salzgitter) and maize as well as wheat on the Krefeld and Barby plants.
In Germany Cargill possesses two rapeseed mills − in Salzgitter and Riesa where rapeseed is processed into rapeseed oil which is then made into raffinate on site.
Cargill has recently increased the capacity of its own two mills to meet the growing demand of the food and biodiesel industry. To achieve this capacity increase several millions of euros were invested at each location. The investments will help us serve our food and feed customers even better in terms of quality, product safety and product flexibility. In addition, we are now in a far better position to satisfy demands made by the biodiesel.
The Barby location produces into glucose and starch. Supply for this location is guaranteed by our Cargill grain trade business in Salzgitter.
Cargill´s grain and oilseed customers include the food industry, vegetable oil refineries, agriculturalists and mixed food manufacturers as well as European processors, e.g. dry mills for imported grain.
