Personal Development: Making the most of opportunities begins with owning my development. I know that by taking personal responsibility for my development, I will be presented with exceptional career opportunities at Cargill.
Already as a trainee, I very quickly assumed responsibility for our protein trade. Cargill offers numerous opportunities for young talents to develop: on-the-job training, seminars, learning about and trading in various commodities and also deployments at other Cargill sites in Germany or other European countries. Each employee can be involved in shaping their own career path. While Cargill provides the wide diversity, anyone can grow through personal responsibility and determination. In addition, specifically at Cargill, you always have the opportunity to talk to leading personalities to share experiences.
As Commercial Manager, I am responsible for our oil seed and grain trade in Germany. I lead a team of 15 people at two sites. We supply three oil mills in Germany with about 1.5 million metric tons of rapeseed a year and sell the products to the food, animal feed and biofuel industries. We also supply our starch factories in Germany with about 500,000mt of wheat a year and are involved in exporting wheat to other countries.
My day-to-day work varies. Most importantly, I have to guarantee that our oil mills are fully utilised at all times in order to serve our customers, to constantly improve customer relations, to be the partner of choice, to train and develop our young talent and much more. In my role, it is particularly important to collaborate closely with other departments and business units and to lead diverse teams. You need excellent analytical skills, a passion for allowing our business to keep growing and also a sound entrepreneurial sense.
I started as a trainee in the commercial area nine years ago, trading in animal feed, rapeseed and plant oils. During my trainee programme, I spent some time at our Amsterdam office. A few years later I took over management of our oil mill business. After a year on maternity leave, I am now in charge of our overall trade activities in oil seed and cereals in Germany.
What I find most rewarding about my work is that I can contribute and implement my own ideas and I can contribute to the overall success of the company. It is great when you achieve or even surpass targets, such as trading results, processing volumes and customer satisfaction.
Cargill is a global company that has set itself the task of working responsibly to feed the world's population, to minimize the impact on the environment and to support the local communities. As part of this global network, I can actively participate in the success in our region. You can have global contact with colleagues which not only helps the actual business but also expands your personal horizons.
Cargill offers numerous career opportunities in the global agricultural and food market. With a high degree of autonomy and entrepreneurship you can achieve a lot within Cargill.
My main hobby is my family. My husband and I are parents to twins and we most enjoy spending our free time with them and love to see how they are growing up.
