Personal Development: Making the most of opportunities begins with owning my development. I know that by taking personal responsibility for my development, I will be presented with exceptional career opportunities at Cargill.
Cargill offers each employee many opportunities for professional development. Even during my traineeship, I had many opportunities to get involved in different areas and assume responsibility. Alongside professional development opportunities, such as courses or seminars, you can also gain new, crucial experience at any time through short-term assignments or overseas secondments. At each stage of your career you have all the opportunities to take control and direct your own career path.
I am in charge of plant accounting at two sites in Germany and lead a team of 11 staff here. My area of responsibility includes costing, project and energy control. Some of the main tasks are staff management and professional development, analysing performance, budgeting, capital budgeting, etc.
Within Business Partnering we supply financial information for making strategic decisions over, for example, new investments. This safeguards the company's profitability and uncovers potential for improvement. An affinity for figures among staff in this area is an absolute must here. Communication with the various departments also has to work, because only as a team can we achieve the best result for the company.
After studying industrial engineering, I started as a Financial Management Trainee at Cargill. One year after my traineeship I assumed responsibility for the Cost Accounting Team as a supervisor. For about four years I have been Plant Accounting Manager for the Krefeld and Barby sites.
I value the close contact with the various departments and their staff. With open communication and good teamwork we can do a lot to achieve the set goals of Cargill together. As manager of my team, I am pleased about each positive development of my staff and how together they achieve ambitious career goals with my support.
When I graduated I applied to a number of other companies besides Cargill. At the time I was not familiar with Cargill's precise area of work. But the open, positive atmosphere at the interviews made my decision very easy and so far it has proved right. The opportunities at Cargill make the job very varied and, therefore, never boring.
Cargill is a company where there are constant changes. Therefore, every employee should be flexible in how they work and face changes positively. In an international company like Cargill overseas deployments also crop up if you want to get ahead. Each employee should take control of their own career because Cargill offers everyone the chance to do so.
In my free time I spend a lot of time with my wife and my two children. And when time permits I play handball or like to go jogging.
